Floyd F. LaMere

Floyd F. LaMere, 82, passed away Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at his home surrounded by his wife and family. He was born June 29, 1926 in Eastman, the son of John and Anna (Gillitzer) LaMere. Floyd served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was united in marriage to Bertilla Munz on Nov. 19, 1949. Floyd was a member and past commander of American Legion Post 385 Verona. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 11155, St. Andrew Catholic Church, Knights of Divine Mercy and Carpenters Local 314. He enjoyed spending time with his family along with hunting, fishing and trap shooting.
Floyd is survived by his wife of 59 years Bertilla (Munz) LaMere, children Roseann Wineke, Sheila (Jim) Sherry, Cletus (Laurie) LaMere, Clement (Karen) LaMere, Joan (Steven John) Bignell, Genevieve (Paul) Pike, Yvonne (Brian) Brown, Charles (Evelyn) LaMere, Howard (Brenda) LaMere, Cheryl (Al) Schmidt and Bernard (Laura) LaMere; 21 grandchildren; sister Rita (LaMere) Noble, brother Fr. Cletus LaMere SDS as well as many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, John and Anna (Gillitzer) LaMere, siblings Clarence (Florence) LaMere, Loretta (LaMar) Martin, Florence (Leo) Steiert, Leo (Leona) LaMere, Roy (Mary) LaMere, Sr. Rosewitha LaMere, Ray (Ivanel) LaMere, Genevieve (Ben) Enkosky, Eleanor (Myron) Willmore, Mary (Jim) Curley; granddaughter Shanteal Bignell.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Andrew Catholic Church on Feb. 18, 2009 with Msgr. Delbert Schmelzer and Fr. Cletus LaMere concelebrating. Entombment was held at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care Inc., 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI 53711.
