Verona girls tennis traveled to Madison West last Thursday. The Regents showed why they are the Big Eight favorites, rolling 6-1.
Senior Stephanie Wolf was the lone Wildcat to escape Madison West High School unscathed last Thursday, pulling out a 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 victory over Regents freshman Lily Simonson at No. 3 singles.
Kirsten Brose and Becca Taylor forced three sets at No. 1 doubles, but were unable to win the super tiebreaker 2-6, 6-1, 7-6 (4) against fellow seniors Allie Dyer and Jenni Mohoney.
Verona 7, Beloit Memorial 0
The Wildcats hosted Beloit on Tuesday, rolling 7-0.
Freshman Kaitlin Hackbarth finished a perfect match at No. 4 singles (6-0, 6-0), while Grave Davenport and Jordan Langer posted a 6-0, 6-1 match at No. 2 doubles.
Verona wouldn't be challenged much more at any of the seven remaining spots either.
Lexi Demario (6-1, 6-2), Morgan Wilson (6-0, 6-2) and Stephanie Wolf (6-1, 6-1) lost a combined seven games at No. 1 through 3 singles.
Kirsten Brose and Becca Taylor and Hannah Buchanan and Stephanie Miller finished off the sweep, cruising past their Purple Knight counterparts 6-3, 6-2 and 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 and 3 doubles, respectively.
Verona (7-3 overall, 3-2 Big Eight) travels to Janesville Craig on Tuesday at 4:15 p.m.
