A Verona woman’s poetry is part of an anthology of love poems recently published by Mayapple Press.
“Love Over 60” features poetry from more than 80 female poets, both well-known (Lucille Clifton, Maxine Kumin, Marge Piercy, Lisel Mueller) and relatively unknown. Among them are works from City of Verona resident Jackie Langetieg, a retired veteran of Wisconsin state government.
The poems in the book speak of love in particular lives and details. Some loves can be categorized – the eros of falling in love, the philia of close friendship; the affectionate bonds of family and familiars; agape’s compassionate loving-kindness – and these are all explored here.
It also features poems about a passion for a calling, lust, sensual delights and tenderness. The book is available locally at Barnes and Noble.
